Erhürman: Presidency to Take On Economic Burden

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader and presidential candidate Tufan Erhürman said the Presidency will work actively on issues directly affecting the economy, taking steps in areas ranging from relations with the EU to property disputes, halloumi registration, and tourism.

Erhürman stressed that the Presidency should play a more active role in economic matters, highlighting the importance of engaging in intensive diplomacy with the EU to expand the EU Financial Aid Regulation, broaden the scope of the Green Line Regulation, and implement the Direct Trade Regulation.
On property matters, Erhürman noted that the Immovable Property Commission — established to ensure predictability and recognised by the European Court of Human Rights — would have its infrastructure and resources strengthened under the Presidency’s leadership. He also said the registration process enabling halloumi to access the EU market would be expedited.
Emphasising that the Presidency plays a decisive role in appointing economic and financial bureaucrats based on merit, Erhürman said efforts would focus on solving problems and creating new opportunities in tourism, higher education, construction, industry, and trade.
He added that they had met with experts in economics, finance, and fiscal policy and would establish a permanent Economic Policy Board within the Presidency. “The Presidency will shoulder the concerns of this country and its people. Every issue concerning the people will also concern the Presidency,” he said.
