Koop-Sen Strike Continues Despite July Salaries Being Paid

Mehmetali Güröz, President of the Cooperative Employees Union (Koop-Sen), confirmed that the indefinite strike at Koop-Süt, Zirai Levazım, and Binboğa Yem continues, even though July salaries have been paid. Güröz emphasized that the protest will persist until the cooperatives withdraw their threatened dismissals.

Speaking outside the Prime Ministry, Güröz stressed that while salaries were disbursed, no formal agreement had been signed regarding employee benefits and entitlements, with only verbal assurances provided. He highlighted that 44 employees facing potential dismissal had already earned retirement rights, yet were being treated inconsistently. Güröz underscored that under the Personnel Regulations, no staff member can be legally dismissed, warning that tolerating one wrongful termination could set a dangerous precedent for others.

The union also called for improvements to the expiring collective labor agreements at Koop-Süt and Zirai Levazım, and opposed the management’s plan to appoint external directors to each cooperative, urging the boards to resign.
