Üstel: “Despite Embargoes, Our Athletes Represent the TRNC Worldwide”

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that despite international embargoes, athletes from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) continue to represent the country around the world.

Speaking at the “TRNC Sports Investments Mass Opening Ceremony,” attended by Turkey’s Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Üstel underlined that the government has left no project or infrastructure work unfinished. “We have completed all unfinished roads. We have carried out reforms and will continue to do so,” he said, adding that this year was declared the “year of youth.”
Üstel noted that various initiatives had been undertaken to ensure young people remain in the country, including efforts to help them become homeowners. He expressed gratitude for Turkey’s support under the Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol, saying, “Motherland Turkey is always by our side.”
Highlighting the new facilities built for children and young people to spend time and engage in sports, Üstel stressed their importance for the promotion of the TRNC. He emphasized that TRNC athletes, with Turkey’s support, proudly represent the country in many parts of the world despite all embargoes.
“Our youth are our pride,” Üstel said, describing the newly opened facilities across the country as historic investments not only in sports but also in the future and in the international recognition of the TRNC.
