Erhürman to Christodoulides: No Talks Without Political Equality

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Tufan Erhürman has addressed Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, stressing that negotiations on the Cyprus issue cannot begin unless political equality is accepted.

Speaking at a public gathering in Kyrenia, Erhürman underlined that sincerity is essential for a solution, with political equality as a non-negotiable precondition. “From here, I am addressing Christodoulides,” he said. “If he is genuine about wanting a solution, he must first accept our political equality. A timetable must be set, and the convergences reached so far must be reaffirmed. Only under these conditions can talks resume.”
Erhürman warned that if Christodoulides avoids negotiations, the Turkish Cypriot side will not revert to the existing status quo. “If you are ready for all this, then be ready—we are coming. The will of the Turkish Cypriots will be at the table,” he declared.
