Toros: What We Need Is Peace and Security, Not More Guns

CTP MP Fikri Toros criticized practices during the election period, stressing in a social media post that society’s real need is peace and security, not more weapons.

Toros warned that the approval of hundreds of gun permits in the north of Cyprus undermines social peace. “While our society needs peace and safety, granting hundreds of handgun licenses to individuals threatens public order, fuels violence, weakens trust, and endangers social harmony,” he said.
Emphasizing that what society truly requires is stronger public order, justice, and peace, Toros added: “It is peace and security, not guns, that will safeguard our quality of life and safety.”
He also accused the government of abusing public resources in the run-up to elections, claiming that it distributed benefits recklessly to voters. “This can only be described as electoral bribery,” Toros argued.
“Free will of the people, democracy, justice, and equality must be the foundation of elections,” he concluded. “We want an election won by free choice, not by bribery.”
