Nicos Christodoulides: No Changes at Crossing Points

President of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nicos Christodoulides, addressed claims regarding border crossings, stating that there have been no changes. Christodoulides told Cyprus Mail that all crossing points continue to operate normally, and there is no restriction limiting entry to only “Republic of Cyprus” or EU ID cards.

The claim emerged after Gürcan Osmanbuba, speaking on behalf of the Employees’ Association in Southern Cyprus, alleged that from 25 August 2025, only individuals with Republic of Cyprus or EU IDs were being allowed to cross the checkpoints.
Following these claims, the Greek Cypriot police clarified that the delays were due to KKTC ID cards not being compatible with electronic scanning systems, requiring manual entry. They emphasized that no new restrictions or policies targeting TRNC ID holders had been implemented.
