Erhürman: “Actions Undermining Diplomacy Are Hurting Daily Life”

CTP General Chairman and presidential candidate Tufan Erhürman criticized the handling of border crossings, highlighting that actions undermining dialogue and diplomacy are negatively affecting citizens’ daily lives.

Speaking to Hakikat Web TV, Erhürman said, “Removing dialogue and diplomacy creates real obstacles in people’s everyday life. Border crossings are the clearest example. Nothing should be done unilaterally or without informing the other side. Leadership is defined by how you manage this.”
Erhürman stressed the importance of continuous contact between the presidency, the international community, and the Greek Cypriot leader, noting that any unilateral measures exacerbate difficulties. He also addressed election-day decisions, arguing that last-minute rulings ahead of voting were politically motivated and contributed to societal tension.
He further warned that neglecting population policies and economic management, coupled with diplomatic missteps, undermines public confidence. “Our youth should have the right to a secure future here. We cannot allow anyone to impede the sovereignty of these lands,” Erhürman added.
