Speaking after an event yesterday, Christodoulides told Fileleftheros that the process is being handled away from the public eye. “It is important that these efforts remain confidential; what matters to us is achieving results,” he said, expressing hope that progress would be made soon.

Meanwhile, Greek Cypriot officials have sought international support. According to Politis, Nikos Tornaridis, head of the Greek Cypriot delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has written to national delegations urging them to raise the issue with their governments and parliaments, and to condemn the arrests. Tornaridis claimed the five were detained while attempting to visit their “own legal properties.”

In parallel, AKEL MEP Yiorgos Georgiou sent a letter to European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, alleging that the arrests constituted a violation of fundamental human rights and calling for pressure on Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot authorities to secure their release.
