The ordeal for Turkish Cypriots trying to cross south over the weekend continued, as long queues and hours of waiting once again dominated the crossing points. While the delays appeared to stem from technical issues, they were widely attributed to poor communication, lack of political will, and unilateral practices.

Frustration mounted among those stranded for hours at the gates, with many blaming the added procedures at the southern checkpoints for the bottlenecks.

At the same time, the limited number of crossing points and inadequate capacity at existing checkpoints were also seen as key reasons for the persistent congestion.

Heavy traffic at the crossings on both Saturday and Sunday left citizens increasingly exasperated, with many describing the wait as unbearable.
