The diaspora also urged the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States to intensify diplomatic pressure to immediately resume substantive negotiations on the Cyprus issue.

According to Haravgi, the “World Congress of Greek Cypriots Abroad,” held in the southern part of Nicosia from August 26–29, included the Cyprus problem on its agenda. The meeting reaffirmed support from the Greek Cypriot administration and global Hellenism for the freedom and justice struggle of the Greek Cypriot community, culminating in a joint communiqué.

Leaders of diaspora organizations PSEKA, POMAK, and NEPOMAK welcomed the EU’s decision to appoint a special representative for the Cyprus issue, expressing appreciation for interventions by senior EU officials aimed at a solution consistent with European principles and legislation.

The communiqué called on Turkey to immediately withdraw its forces from Cyprus, implement European Court of Human Rights decisions in full, respect property rights, and safeguard the human rights of displaced persons. It also urged Turkey to fully cooperate in clarifying the fate of all missing persons and provide their families with complete information.

The joint statement emphasized that a sustainable, workable, and democratic solution based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions would serve the interests of all Cypriots, strengthen peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, and support the geopolitical interests of the EU and its partners. It also stressed that any negotiated settlement under the UN framework must fully comply with the European acquis and EU principles and values.
