August 2025 Breaks 50-Year Temperature Records in Northern Cyprus

The Meteorological Department of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has announced that August 2025 has seen the highest temperatures recorded in the past 50 years. New records were set in Çamlıbel, Beyarmudu, Kyrenia, and Alevkaya.

According to the department, temperatures reached 43.7°C in Çamlıbel on August 9, 43.3°C in Beyarmudu on August 13, 40.7°C in Kyrenia, and 40.6°C in Alevkaya.
Previous August records from 1975–2025 stood at 41.3°C in Çamlıbel, 42.0°C in Beyarmudu, 39.8°C in Kyrenia, and 40.5°C in Alevkaya. The Meteorological Department confirmed that all these records were surpassed this August, marking an unprecedented heatwave in the region.
