Fatal Crash on Kyrenia–Morphou Highway Claims One Life
A midnight traffic accident on the Kyrenia–Morphou main road left one man dead and two others injured.
The crash occurred at around 12:45 a.m. between the 23rd and 24th kilometers of the highway. Police said a car driven by 34-year-old Hasan Kapcı, heading towards Kyrenia, crossed into the opposite lane due to negligence and collided head-on with another vehicle driven by 50-year-old İzzet Köle.
The impact caused Kapcı’s vehicle to veer off to the north side of the road, while Köle’s car was thrown southward, striking pine trees before coming to a stop off the roadside.
Kapcı died at the scene. His passenger, 34-year-old Ramazan Ender Öztürk, was taken to Kyrenia Dr. Akçiçek Hospital for observation. Köle was transferred to Near East University Hospital for treatment.
Police said the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
