Speaking at the event, Serdar Denktaş said, “We carry on Denktaş’s legacy. This state was not established easily, nor can it be easily destroyed.” The press conference took place in an olive grove, marking the public introduction of the TAM Party’s goals.

Founding Vision

TAM Party’s founding president, Serdar Denktaş, emphasized that the party is for those who follow the teachings of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş and walk in the path of Atatürk, defending the will of the people. “Today we are not only announcing the formation of a party; today we are beginning to build the new TRNC,” he said.

Eight Core Principles

The party’s logo, an olive tree with eight branches, symbolizes its eight core principles: Atatürkism, participatory democracy, unity of the people, solution-orientation, innovation, secularism, human rights and justice, and information, technology, and innovation.

The press conference was attended by founding members, citizens, and featured the flags of the TRNC, Turkey, and the party, along with images of Rauf Raif Denktaş, Dr. Fazıl Küçük, and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Stands were set up for those wishing to join the party.

Statements by Serdar Denktaş

Denktaş stated, “This sapling will grow and bear fruit; as it grows, TAM Party will grow, and as it bears fruit, the TRNC will embark on a new path with innovation.” He highlighted that TAM Party aims to follow Denktaş’s legacy, uphold Atatürkism, and ensure that the TRNC symbolizes political equality and the inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriot people. “Sovereignty belongs to the Turkish Cypriot people and cannot be exploited ideologically against either Turkey or the Greek Cypriots,” he said.

Denktaş stressed the historical and cultural ties between the TRNC and Turkey, noting that TAM Party embraces Turkey as a brotherly nation. He emphasized that while benefiting from Turkey’s protection, the party would also resist any attempt to misuse that security.

TRNC Independence and Governance

The party pledges to maintain the TRNC’s independence and honor, saying, “This state was not established easily, nor can it be easily destroyed. Independence is our dignity, our honor, and the waving of this flag.” Denktaş asserted that the TRNC will remain independent forever, and the party is committed to governing the country with integrity, while strengthening ties with Turkey based on mutual respect, love, and understanding.

Approach to the Cyprus Issue

Regarding the Cyprus problem, Denktaş emphasized a new approach, independent of existing federational or two-state camps, focusing instead on internal consensus and step-by-step solutions. “The Cyprus issue will advance economically rather than politically, creating new opportunities for future generations. Our priority is the Turkish Cypriot people,” he said.

Economic and Social Vision

Denktaş highlighted the importance of a strong economy as the foundation for independence. TAM Party aims to support farmers directly, grow tourism while preserving nature, support youth in technology, and leverage the expertise of locals abroad. Social justice and equal opportunity are central to the party’s vision.

Local Governance Commitment

The party is committed to governing the country locally rather than from central urban areas. The press conference in Aslanköy symbolized this approach.

Upcoming Congress and Leadership

Serdar Denktaş announced that TAM Party will hold a major congress, where leadership positions will be determined through elections. He declared his candidacy for the party’s presidency while temporarily delegating duties to General Coordinator Ertan Kaygan until the congress.

Denktaş concluded his speech with the TAM Party gesture, signaling the start of a new political journey grounded in the legacy of Rauf Raif Denktaş and Atatürk.
