Man Found Dead in Truck Trailer at Kyrenia Port Identified as Şadi Ceylan

Police have confirmed the identity of the man who was discovered lifeless inside a truck trailer at Kyrenia Tourism Port earlier this week. The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Şadi Ceylan, a resident of Turkey.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incident occurred on September 3, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m. Investigators said that C.K. (43) drove a truck into the country through Kyrenia Tourism Port, accompanied by E.Ö. (36). In an attempt to obtain financial gain, the two men allegedly allowed another individual to conceal himself inside the trailer in order to enter the country illegally.
When the truck arrived at the port, the hidden man was discovered motionless in the trailer. He was rushed to Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital, but despite all medical efforts, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead. At the time, the man’s identity was not immediately known.
Further investigation has since revealed that the deceased was Şadi Ceylan. Authorities conducted an autopsy and collected blood and tissue samples to determine the exact cause of death. Police reported that the final cause will be established following further laboratory analysis, although initial indications suggested death resulted from a lack of oxygen inside the sealed trailer.
Meanwhile, both C.K. and E.Ö. were arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody. Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, focusing on the circumstances of Ceylan’s death and the suspected human smuggling attempt.
Officials emphasized that Ceylan’s tragic death highlights the dangers of irregular migration and the severe risks faced by those who attempt to enter the country unlawfully through such means.
