Highlighting the long queues and constant difficulties at Metehan, Toros stressed that the situation has made daily life unbearable for citizens. He warned that the problems at the crossing do not only affect individuals but also undermine intercommunal trust as well as economic and social relations on the island.

Toros underlined that with Erhürman as President, this reality would change. He said that through effective dialogue and consultations with the Greek Cypriot leader, the United Nations, and the European Commission, the problems at Metehan—and at all other crossing points—would be resolved on a lasting basis.

He further noted that the change would not only eliminate the queues but also pave the way for new initiatives that would strengthen trust between the two communities and make everyday life easier.

“It is time for change, time for a system that does not exhaust our people but allows them to breathe,” Toros declared, adding that the steps to be taken under Erhürman’s leadership would offer Turkish Cypriots a freer, easier, and safer future.
