Arıklı stated that he has repeatedly asked Erhürman the same question without receiving an answer: “Dear Professor, what could former leaders Mehmet Ali Talat and Mustafa Akıncı not achieve that you will now accomplish and convince the Greek Cypriots? What did they fail to do that you will succeed in?”

Highlighting the absence of any change or sign of regret on the Greek Cypriot side, Arıklı said, “At Crans-Montana, has any Greek Cypriot leader, whether Anastasiadis or Hristodulidis, said ‘I wish we had accepted that’? There is no such indication.”

He argued that discussions about a federal solution are over and warned, “Returning to federation would represent a serious loss of prestige for Turkey.”
