CTP Secretary General Erkut Şahali issued a statement ahead of the October 19 presidential elections, responding to allegations that Üstel attempted to influence election committees, while the President reportedly remained silent on the matter.

Şahali highlighted the widespread perception of preferential treatment, noting that employment, leave approvals, and the allocation of public resources have historically favored narrow circles. He described the incident not merely as an act of manipulation but as a deliberate attack on the public’s democratic will.

The CTP also called on the Supreme Election Council to ensure that election committees are established with the highest level of integrity and that the electoral process is conducted transparently and fairly. “We are committed to ensuring that the free will of the people is reflected at the ballot box. Democracy is protected not by directives but by courage,” the statement said.

The party emphasized that in the upcoming period, the voice of the people will remain central to politics, and it will continue to work toward a system grounded in justice, equality, and public welfare.
