The YSK statement emphasized that political parties nominating candidates must include the candidate’s place and date of birth, as well as their parents’ names and surnames.

Required documents include a declaration confirming that the candidate meets the conditions set out in the Constitution and Election Law and is not a candidate for another party, a police character certificate, proof of at least five years’ residence in the TRNC (such as a muhtar certificate), a copy of the identity card, a military service certificate for male candidates, and a university diploma.

Independent candidates must submit a written statement confirming they meet the constitutional and legal requirements under the Constitution and Law No. 5/1976 on Elections and Referenda. Their applications must also include a police character certificate, muhtar certificate, identity card, military service certificate for men, and university diploma.

“DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN FULL”

The YSK reminded all candidates that documents must be submitted in full, warning that incomplete applications could invalidate election results if the candidate wins.

The announcement also urged both political parties and independent candidates to pay special attention to Article 99 of the Constitution, as well as Articles 9 and 58 of the Election and Referenda Law, which regulate eligibility and the candidacy application process.

Candidates may indicate during application which version of their name should appear on the ballot, while independent candidates may submit the symbol they wish to use—provided it does not resemble a party emblem—within three days after nomination.

YSK further noted that the provisional candidate list will be published during the evening TV and radio news bulletins on Friday.
