KSP Candidate and Four Independents Submit Presidential Bids

Cyprus Socialist Party (KSP) candidate Osman Zorba, along with independent presidential hopefuls İbrahim Yazıcı, Arif Salih Kırdağ, Mehmet Hasgüler, and Ahmet Boran, have officially submitted their candidacies for the October 19 presidential election to the Supreme Election Board.

Two additional independent candidates are expected to submit their applications later today.
Yazıcı: Independent candidate İbrahim Yazıcı said their candidacy is in line with constitutional rights and wished success to all participants, adding, “May it be beneficial for the Turkish Cypriot people.”
Zorba: KSP’s Osman Zorba described the election as “a decision election,” stating the people must choose between the path of independence, freedom, and democracy or continued dependency.
Kırdağ: Independent candidate Arif Salih Kırdağ emphasized the need to reclaim lost rights and seek a prompt solution to the Cyprus issue, drawing a parallel to historical figures Dadaloğlu and Köroğlu in defending the people. He declared, “I am ready and coming. Mr. Hristodulidis should wait. My messages are clear.”
Hasgüler: Independent candidate Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hasgüler framed the election as a referendum rather than a standard presidential vote, calling it a chance to break free from decades of political exploitation. He highlighted the region’s volatility and outlined his prepared diplomacy program, urging voters to consider “the account of the past 50 years” before casting their ballots.
Boran: Independent candidate Ahmet Boran confirmed his candidacy, wishing all candidates well while offering some criticisms and extending good luck to his competitors.
