Arıklı noted that in the past, insults were directed only at him and he would dismiss them as “salvos from racist and leftist groups.”

He highlighted that people who came to the country in 1975 as agricultural laborers have, three generations later, formed parties and assumed leadership roles, yet “those caught in the whirlpool of racism, under a supposed mask of leftism, continue their insults and curses.” Arıklı added that the same groups have now started directing abusive comments at those expressing support for President Ersin Tatar.

“Just check social media posts by former Prime Minister Hakkı Atun and veteran journalists Ahmet Tolgay and Akay Cemal. Hundreds are hurling insults in chorus,” he said, emphasizing that no insults have come from his side and that everyone has been respectful toward Tufan Erhürman and his supporters.

Arıklı concluded, “I hope Tufan Hoca and his team call on the habitual abusers in their own circles to put an end to this disrespect.”
