In a statement signed by union president Selma Eylem on behalf of the executive board, KTOEÖS accused the UBP-DP-Yeniden Doğuş Partisi government of acting “on AKP orders” and said that what they call an “imposition” is still being enforced at the two schools.

The union alleged that “girls are being organized and sent to school wearing headscarves” and vowed to continue resisting what it described as a conservative imposition. “Our teachers remain on strike in line with our board’s decision and will continue their principled and dignified resistance,” the statement read.

KTOEÖS emphasized the importance of quality, scientific and secular education in line with the constitution and laws, declaring, “We will not allow this drive toward conservatization.” The union called on society to support the teachers’ struggle and stand up for public education, the future, and the children.
