Taçoy Questions Erhürman on Federation: What Concessions Will Convince the Greek Cypriot Administration?
National Unity Party (UBP) MP Hasan Taçoy has called on Erhürman to clarify his plans regarding the resumption of federation talks and strategies to persuade Turkey. Taçoy questioned the tangible gains for the public, stating that the model has become exhausted.
UBP MP Hasan Taçoy asked, “If Mr. Erhürman is elected, does he plan to resume federation talks, and does he intend to convince Turkey to change its policy on this matter?”
Emphasizing the importance of the answer, Taçoy said, “Our people are very curious. What concrete gains have our citizens achieved from over half a century of federation-based negotiations that would justify returning to this exhausted model today? If the Greek Cypriot side were convinced by this model, the issue would have been resolved long ago. But it has not been.”
Taçoy also argued that Erhürman should clarify “what concessions he plans to offer to convince the Greek Cypriot administration.”
