MSB sources responded to reports regarding the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) acquiring an air defense system from Israel, saying, “All attempts to disrupt the balance on the island are being closely monitored, and all necessary measures are in place to safeguard the security and tranquility of the TRNC.”

Turkish MSB officials addressed journalists’ questions following their weekly press briefing.

Regarding reports of the GCA procuring an air defense system from Israel, ministry sources stated:

“We are closely following media reports about the GCA’s acquisition of an air defense system from Israel. We would like to reiterate that the GCA’s ongoing armament efforts and activities that could undermine peace and stability on the island may have dangerous consequences. All attempts to disrupt the balance on the island are being carefully monitored, and all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the security and tranquility of the TRNC. Turkey stands with and supports the TRNC today, as it has in the past. The Turkish Cypriot community remains under Turkey’s protection.”
