Tourism Police Deployment Begins Today in Kyrenia and Nicosia

The tourism police program was launched today in Kyrenia and Nicosia. Stationed in offices next to the old Kyrenia Police Department, uniformed tourism officers will primarily operate in the Kyrenia Ancient Harbour, a hotspot for tourists, responding to both criminal and traffic incidents.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, and Deputy Chief of the Kyrenia Branch for Crime Prevention, Metin Düzener, held a press briefing in Kyrenia today to provide details about the tourism police initiative.
The tourism police, whose offices are located next to the old Kyrenia Police Department, will wear uniforms and mainly handle judicial and traffic incidents in the Kyrenia Ancient Harbour, where tourists are most concentrated.
In Nicosia, the newly deployed tourism police will be responsible primarily for the walled city (Surlar İçi) area. Their office is located near the Mahmutpaşa Library in the Selimiye Mosque region.
The tourism police program in İskele was launched on August 18, and today marks the start of its implementation in Kyrenia and Nicosia.
