Journalists’ Union Calls on Candidates to Join Open Forum
The Cyprus Turkish Journalists’ Union (KTGB) has reiterated its call for presidential candidates in the upcoming October election to participate in an open forum to share their views with the public.
According to a statement from KTGB, having candidates debate their ideas at the union’s complex will be crucial in helping voters understand why they should support a particular candidate.
The union noted that KTGB will serve as the moderator for the forum, during which journalists will be able to pose questions to the candidates. A portion of the audience will also consist of supporters, making the program “the most democratic broadcast possible.”
The statement added that such a forum would provide a definitive platform for discussion during the election process and that participation by all journalists covering the election would enrich democracy.
