Ertuğruloğlu: Sovereign Equality Is Core of Our National Struggle

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu has stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could harm the national cause of the Turkish Cypriots, stating, “A sovereign, equal two-neighbor state and equal international status are the essence of our national struggle.”

Ertuğruloğlu warned that the 60-year process, rendered ineffective due to the Greek Cypriot side being recognized as the “Republic of Cyprus,” has confined the Turkish Cypriots. He highlighted the danger of failing to recognize the hidden schemes of those who trapped them in this process.
He added, “Adopting a mentality of guilt and feeling obliged to prove ourselves to those who have wronged us does not benefit the national cause of the Turkish Cypriots—it harms it.”
The minister emphasized the need not to be manipulated by the schemes of those who have committed injustices for years and called on people not to focus on the identity of candidates in the upcoming elections.
He concluded, “A sovereign, equal two-neighbor state and equal international status are the essence of our national struggle. Let us not forget, let us not allow it to be forgotten; let us act accordingly.”
