Tatar, who recently met with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy on Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín, said he will meet Guterres and his delegation on 26 September, followed by the trilateral meeting with Christodoulides on 27 September.

Speaking last week, Tatar stated that he would once again raise issues including joint projects, committees, interconnection, cultural heritage, demining, and cooperation on fires and earthquakes during the trilateral meeting.

“I am working for common ground, but the Greek Cypriot side does not help improve relations between the two peoples,” he said, noting that arrests continue, and that the Greek Cypriot side refuses to recognize the Turkish Cypriots as an equal party on property issues. “This matter will be resolved through the Immovable Property Commission. The exchange method is a way to solve this issue fundamentally, but that too is not happening,” Tatar added.
