In a written statement, Akpınar said the federation model has lost its legitimacy in the international arena and reaffirmed the community’s determination to uphold its own state. “It is clear that no new concessions will be given to the Greek Cypriot side. The Turkish Cypriots want sovereignty and their own state. The answer is clear: Yes!” he said.

Akpınar also highlighted the leadership of President Ersin Tatar and strong ties with Turkey as factors increasing the TRNC’s international visibility. He pointed to observer membership in the Organization of Turkic States and participation in international organizations as concrete examples.

He added that significant investments have been made in healthcare, transportation, education, and technology, including new hospitals, health centers, roads, infrastructure projects, the Supreme Court building, and a new presidential complex, all of which strengthen the institutional capacity of the state.

Concluding his statement, Akpınar said: “As the Democratic Party, we stand with the will of our people. Federation-based solutions contradict the demands of our citizens. Turkish Cypriots will never be a minority and will not live under anyone’s shadow. We will never compromise on our sovereignty, our state, or our flag.”
