Erhürman also visited the Turkish Peace Forces (TBK) Veterans Association in Famagusta. According to a statement from the CTP Press Office, he was accompanied by CTP Secretary General Erkut Şahali, Famagusta District President Oktay Kayalp, and several MPs.

During the meetings, Erhürman said, “On October 19, we will cast our vote for our children and grandchildren.” The TBK Veterans Association visit was attended by Association President Nusrettin Yuca.

“We Must Connect Our People with the International Community”

Erhürman stressed the love that young generations have for the country and promised to work day and night for a future where young people are not forced to emigrate, those abroad return with hope, and everyone can live with pride in their roots.

Pointing to the many reasons for the Turkish Cypriot people to have confidence in themselves, he said, “Our people have fought for existence under the toughest conditions, and our youth have been exceptionally well-educated despite all obstacles. We will never allow the self-confidence of our people to be undermined or their dignity to be broken.”

Erhürman vowed to work tirelessly to restore pride in the people, their country, and institutions, emphasizing, “We are one of the two equal founding partners on this island, and we will never relinquish our political equality.”

He also criticized President and fellow candidate Ersin Tatar for lacking negotiation experience despite five years in office, highlighting his own past involvement in negotiations. Erhürman added, “We exist on this island and will never allow anyone to ignore our people or act as if we do not exist. On this island, no matter the circumstances, our children will have the same rights and opportunities as any Greek Cypriot child. We will not compromise on this.”

Erhürman further stated that the presidency will be a home for the Turkish Cypriot people, saying, “No one will be left outside, and no one will be excluded.”

Reflecting on the past five years, he noted, “Five completely empty years have passed, during which we have even regressed. We must connect our people with the international community.”
