Special Representative Güneş Onar Holds Talks With Russian and Swiss Diplomats in New York
President’s Special Representative Güneş Onar met with the Deputy Permanent Representatives of Russia and Switzerland in New York on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
Onar held separate meetings with Russian Deputy Permanent Representative Ambassador Anna M. Evstigneeva and Swiss Deputy Permanent Representative Oliver Hoehne. The discussions focused on the informal summits held this year under the auspices of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, which were attended by both sides as well as the guarantor states at ministerial level.
The meetings also included an exchange of views on the upcoming trilateral meeting scheduled for Saturday, 27 September 2025, at UN Headquarters, which will bring together President Ersin Tatar and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides under the auspices of the Secretary-General.
Onar was accompanied in his contacts by Legal Adviser Sülen Karabacak, Coordinator for Confidence-Building Measures and Bi-Communal Technical Committees Seniha Birand Çınar, and diplomat Mustafa Erçakıca from the TRNC Representation in New York.
