The TRNC participated in the Istanbul Tourism Fair, held on 25–26 September 2025, showcasing the country’s historical and cultural heritage, beaches, outdoor sports opportunities, accommodation options, and the unique flavors of Cypriot cuisine. The fair, which brings together hotels, travel agencies, cruise operators, and other tourism sectors, attracted broad participation and built on the success of last year’s event.

Speaking at the TRNC stand, Ataoğlu emphasized that the country is prepared for tourism year-round, thanks to its unspoiled nature and welcoming people. He noted that efforts are ongoing to develop health, sports, and alternative tourism models, along with new investments to increase the island’s accommodation capacity.

Ataoğlu also highlighted cooperation with Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, including last year’s promotional film showcased in Russia, Germany, and the UK. “With the ‘Island-Cyprus’ brand, we received particularly positive responses from the Turkish market. Our first priority is to introduce tourism to our own people and our homeland,” he said, stressing the importance of Turkish investors for TRNC tourism.

Comparing TRNC holiday prices with those in the Greek islands, Ataoğlu noted they are about 30% more affordable. “Our target is 85 million Turkish citizens. This island is yours; no one should miss visiting Northern Cyprus,” he stated.

He added that the TRNC closely monitors the work of the Cyprus Turkish Tourism and Travel Agencies Association (KITSAB) and the Turkish Travel Agencies Association (TÜRSAB). Through a protocol with Turkish Airlines (THY), agencies from over ten countries across two continents have been hosted in the TRNC, providing a significant boost to promoting the island’s tourism.
