Taçoy: The Most Correct Step for the Future Is the Two-State Policy

National Unity Party (UBP) MP Hasan Taçoy voiced his strong support for President Ersin Tatar’s vision, stating that “the most correct step for the future is the two-state policy.” Speaking on the upcoming presidential election, Taçoy emphasized that the only factor voters should take into account is the “realities of the country.”

Taçoy: The Most Correct Step for the Future Is the Two-State Policy

“The current reality is a strong and stable administration in the north under Turkey’s guarantorship, while in the south there are numerous undefined and fragmented powers,” he said, underlining that a two-state solution is the most realistic path forward.

Taçoy stressed that President Tatar’s “Time for Action Policy” is not limited solely to the Cyprus issue but also encompasses both domestic and international affairs. According to a statement from his press office, Taçoy told Genç TV that the groundwork had been laid over the past five years and that the time had come to build upon it with the Action Vision.

When asked about his personal stance, Taçoy affirmed his full support for President Tatar, noting that he was actively working to ensure coordination between political parties and electoral centers. “The road to success lies in belief, and belief is tied to vision. As a politician who has long believed in the two-state vision, I see it as my duty to explain this to the people,” he said.

He also criticized the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) deputies for their decision not to appear in joint broadcasts with MPs from other parties, remarking that he was ready to confront anyone in debate as long as it was conducted with respect.

Responding to criticism directed at him, Taçoy said, “Hasan Taçoy began his journey as a member of the Ulusal Birlik Partisi, and he continues along that path.”

“The real need of this country is sincerity, not illusions,” he continued, stressing that the experiences of the north and south of the island are vastly different. He argued that the Greek Cypriot side would never share the power it holds on an equal basis with Turkish Cypriots within a federation.

“Everyone knows this, everyone is aware of it. Yet, despite this, continuing to sell the dream of federation is like trying to sell snails in a Muslim neighborhood,” Taçoy said.
