Press Workers’ Union Condemns Death Threats Against Yenidüzen Editors

The Press Workers’ Union (Basın-Sen) has strongly condemned the death threats directed at Yenidüzen Newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief Mert Özdağ and Managing Editor Ertuğrul Senova, allegedly issued under the name of the “Turkish Revenge Brigade,” a group linked to the violent climate of the 1970s.

In a written statement, Basın-Sen emphasized that the normalization of such threats is unacceptable. The union called on authorities to take immediate action to identify the source of the threats, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure the safety of the targeted journalists.
Basın-Sen also underlined that it will not tolerate any form of threats, insults, or political pressure against media workers and reassured members that they are not alone. The union affirmed its commitment to protecting journalists’ rights and freedoms through all available legal and professional means.
