Üstel Condemns South Cyprus and Greece for F-16's

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has reacted to slogans raised during the October 1 Republic Day ceremony in South Cyprus and the incursion of Greek F-16 fighter jets into the airspace of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), stating that these actions “undermine the security environment on the island and serve no purpose other than to escalate tensions.”

Speaking via his social media account, Üstel described the incident as “an open provocation and a serious threat to peace on the island.” He emphasized that the slogans at the so-called “Republic of Cyprus” ceremony and the airspace violations by Greek jets “only serve to destabilize the island’s security and inflame tensions.”

Üstel also highlighted the leadership of TRNC President Ersin Tatar, saying: “Guided by the goal of two sovereign and equal states, Tatar continues to illuminate our path. Under his leadership, we are taking strong steps to protect our rights and achieve a fair and lasting solution. Together, we move forward toward a freer, more equal, and stronger future.”
