Sıla Usar: The Possibility of Erhürman Having Problems With Turkey Is Out of the Question

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Sıla Usar İncirli said that it was impossible for Tufan Erhürman, who works for the benefit of the Turkish Cypriot people, to have any problems with Turkey. Referring to Erhürman’s recent remarks to Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, she recalled him saying, “You’ll be having plenty of coffee and meals with me — we’ll fight to secure the rights of our youth.”

Speaking on Sabah Postası on Kıbrıs Postası TV, İncirli said that the best indicator was not polls but the field itself, where “there is incredible support.” She noted that people deeply trusted and admired Erhürman, describing the CTP as a party that explains how it will achieve its goals, not one that makes vague promises.
Praising Erhürman’s recent press conference as “highly successful,” İncirli said it clearly outlined the party’s concrete steps toward its objectives: “He didn’t use fancy or confusing words — everything he said was clear.”
İncirli emphasized that Erhürman would be a president who addresses the concerns of Turkish Cypriots unable to claim property in the North while having left property in the South. “He has recognized every wound and explained how to heal them,” she said.
Rejecting claims that CTP’s rallies involved “bussed crowds,” İncirli added, “There’s great excitement everywhere — not just in Değirmenlik but across the island.”
She stated that if Erhürman is elected, there would be no discord with Turkey, recalling his previous terms as both prime minister and negotiator. “Tufan Hoca will continue working in consultation with the Republic of Turkey. The 15 units he announced will greatly benefit the Turkish Cypriot people,” she said.
İncirli noted that progress would be made on issues such as EU citizenship for children of mixed marriages, the Green Line Regulation, Direct Trade Regulation, freedom of travel, and education. “Turkey will welcome his presidency,” she added. “Turkey has always desired the prosperity and future of the Turkish Cypriot people, and that won’t change.”
“The possibility of Tufan Erhürman — who works for the good of the Turkish Cypriot people — having problems with Turkey is out of the question,” İncirli stressed, adding that such claims “lead nowhere.”
Criticizing incumbent President Ersin Tatar, she said, “Ersin Bey failed — his five years in office were wasted.”
On the Cyprus issue, İncirli noted that Greek Cypriots were no longer the sole interlocutor. “The Greek Cypriots have already proven they are unwilling. Our counterparts are now other institutions and organizations. The future of the Turkish Cypriot people cannot depend on Greek Cypriot goodwill,” she said.
