Tatar Ahead of Turkic Council Summit: “The Concept of One Nation, Three States Is Spreading”

President Ersin Tatar said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be represented under its own flag and constitutional name at the upcoming Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), emphasizing that “the concept of one nation, three states is spreading.” He underlined the growing cooperation between the TRNC, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, as well as efforts to strengthen ties with other member states.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the 12th Summit of the OTS Heads of State Council, to be held on 6–7 October in Gabala, Azerbaijan, Tatar highlighted the significance of the TRNC’s observer status within the organization.
He pointed out the geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the TRNC’s established presence in the Eastern Mediterranean for all Turkic states. “At this summit, the TRNC will once again be represented under its own flag and constitutional name,” he said.
Tatar stated that relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan are progressing steadily, adding: “The concept of one nation, three states is becoming increasingly widespread. Especially after the Second Karabakh War, Azerbaijan’s interest in the TRNC has strengthened this understanding both there and here. We are also striving to deepen our relations not only with Azerbaijan but with all member states of the Turkic world.”
