“I hope no one is left with nothing to say after serving five years — that would be the worst fate for any politician,” Erhürman said in his address. He criticised the outgoing administration for what he described as five empty years, saying basic issues — including the rights of children born of mixed marriages — were not advanced at negotiation tables.

Erhürman, accompanied by party figures including Secretary-General Erkut Şahali and TDP leader Zeki Çeler, said the presidency must be impartial and represent all citizens regardless of party affiliation. “From Yeşilırmak to Dipkarpaz, we are visiting every corner of the country. Whether people voted for YDP, DP, UBP or another party — it makes no difference; we will be one,” he said.

Promising a presidency focused on substance rather than ceremony, Erhürman said he would press talks where necessary and insist that the rights of Turkish Cypriots be defended in international fora. He said that, if elected, he would ensure no discrimination among children and that counterparts such as Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides would learn that they cannot unilaterally deny rights at the negotiating table.

“We will govern this beautiful country together,” Erhürman added, calling for unity in the run‑up to the vote and insisting his administration would tackle problems with seriousness and determination.
