KSTU Investigation: Secretary General and Shareholders Face 130 Charges

As part of the investigation into the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU), the school’s Secretary General and shareholders Serdal Gündüz, International Office Head Amir Shakerifard, and assistant Berk Özbek appeared again before the Nicosia High Criminal Court today.

The trial of defendants Serdal Gündüz and Amir Shakerifard has been postponed to October 8, while Berk Özbek’s case has been deferred to October 27.
- Serdal Gündüz and Amir Shakerifard Indicted
During today’s hearing, Senior Prosecutor Mustafa İldeniz represented the Attorney General’s Office, while the defendants’ lawyers Doğa Zeki, Hasan Yücelen, and Talat Tanca were also present.
The indictment process began for defendants Serdal Gündüz and Amir Shakerifard. The court read out the charges brought against both defendants individually. Both defendants stated that they accepted the charges. The hearing was adjourned to Wednesday, October 8, to continue with the indictment process. Berk Özbek’s trial is scheduled for Monday, October 27.

Defendants Serdal Gündüz and Amir Shakerifard are accused of “Obtaining Money by Fraud,” “Fraud,” “Forging and Circulating False Documents,” “Fraudulent Activity in Accounts,” “Money Laundering,” “Inciting False Bank Payment Orders,” and “Embezzlement by Employees,” totaling 130 separate charges.
