Arıklı: If Tufan Erhürman’s Team Has Been Left to the Insulters, Then El-Fatiha

Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı has targeted Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Tufan Erhürman and his team, accusing them of resorting to insults on social media. “Every post in favour of Ersin Tatar is bombarded with hundreds of curses and insults. If Tufan Hoca’s team has been left to these insulters, then El-Fatiha,” Arıklı wrote.

In his social media post, Arıklı claimed that under posts supporting President Tatar and criticising Erhürman, “hundreds of insults and profanities” appear. “Of course, some of these are fake accounts. But clearly, Tufan Hoca’s team is under pressure. It seems orders have been given to the trolls: ‘Swear as much as you can,’” he said.

Arguing that Erhürman’s team relies solely on the Cyprus issue and the federation debate, Arıklı added: “They’ve been told not to touch those subjects — especially not to give voters the impression that they’re opposing Turkey. So, they don’t have much left to say. That’s why they’re trying to wear down the other side with insults and verbal attacks.”

“Insults begin where ideas end,” Arıklı continued. “Criticism is the job of those who have a mind and an opinion. When a person can’t think, they can’t produce ideas — and when there are no ideas left, they resort to insults.”

Arıklı concluded his statement by saying, “If Tufan Hoca’s team has been left to these insulters, then El-Fatiha.”
