Erdoğan Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire, Vows Support

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday welcomed the ceasefire reached between Hamas and Israel following talks in Sharm El-Sheikh, saying Ankara would closely monitor its implementation.

“I welcome the ceasefire in Gaza resulting from the talks in Sharm El-Sheikh, in which Turkey also contributed,” Erdoğan said on social media. “Turkey will closely follow the full implementation of the agreement and continue to contribute to the process,” he added.
Erdoğan expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as Qatar and Egypt, for their roles in facilitating the deal.
The president reaffirmed Ankara’s continued support for the establishment of “an independent, sovereign, and geographically unified Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
He also extended solidarity with Palestinians who, he said, had endured “indescribable suffering and inhumane conditions” over the past two years.
