“We Will Engage with the World”: Erhürman Meets Citizens in Morphou

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader and presidential candidate Tufan Erhürman met with residents of Morphou, sharing his vision for the TRNC presidency. Despite rainy weather, Erhürman thanked the large turnout, emphasizing the importance of citizen engagement.

Speaking at the event, Erhürman highlighted the impartiality of the presidency, stating: “We will not be confined to Sarayönü! We will engage with the world, and our youth will connect globally.” He was accompanied by TAM Party leader Serdar Denktaş, TDP leader Zeki Çeler, CTP Morphou District Chair Çağlar Gulamkadir, as well as several MPs and mayors.
A Presidency that Embraces the People
Erhürman praised the citizens’ dedication: “You are as beautiful as your city… even more so than your name suggests. Only a few days remain, and your patience has been remarkable. Let us walk this path together.”
He stressed that on October 20, the TRNC will have a presidency that is impartial and embraces all citizens. “Our gathering today transcends political divisions. It is driven by our love for this land and our children. Those who do not share this commitment may not understand it, but we feel it in our hearts,” he said.
Action Over Status
Criticizing the past five years, Erhürman said: “Five empty years have passed. The country’s most important office has been reduced to ceremonial functions. I am not pursuing the presidency for status; I am committed to accomplishing what has not been done in this country for five years.”
Support from Political Leaders
TAM Party leader Serdar Denktaş praised Erhürman’s seriousness and ability to represent Turkish Cypriots, while TDP leader Zeki Çeler emphasized unity and commitment. CTP Morphou District Chair Çağlar Gulamkadir highlighted inclusivity: “We will build our future without leaving anyone behind. We will bring hope back, and the world will take us seriously again.”
