In a written statement, Tatar expressed satisfaction on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot community for every measure aimed at ending the ongoing humanitarian crisis and atrocities against innocent Palestinians in Gaza.

He noted that the approval of the first phase of the ceasefire plan, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, represents a significant move toward establishing permanent peace. The agreement, which includes the release of prisoners and Israel’s withdrawal to previously agreed boundaries, has the potential to provide much-needed humanitarian relief.

Tatar praised the constructive role of Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt in mediating the process and highlighted Turkey’s diplomatic efforts under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as particularly commendable.

He added:
“Turkey’s leadership in promoting peace and stability addresses not only the welfare of regional populations but also appeals to the collective conscience of humanity. The resolve shown to end suffering, release hostages, and secure a lasting ceasefire, as noted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, reflects a global sense of responsibility.

As the Turkish Cypriot community, we hope for the successful outcome of this process, which prioritizes peace, stability, and the sanctity of human life, and we extend our thanks to all parties contributing to ending violence and fostering lasting peace in our region.”
