Erdoğan: Turkey to Join Gaza Task Force Following Ceasefire

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire reached between Hamas and Israel in Egypt and announced that Turkey will take part in the task force overseeing its implementation.

Speaking on the agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh, Erdoğan said, “We have long been working to stop the bloodshed in Gaza. Today, the signatures were finalized. We are pleased that the talks, in which Turkey contributed, have resulted in a ceasefire in Gaza.”
He stressed the humanitarian focus of the agreement, highlighting the urgent need for aid delivery, prisoner exchanges, and the immediate halt of Israeli attacks. “Our goal is to end the massacre and bring peace to the region as soon as possible,” Erdoğan said.
Turkey will actively participate in the task force monitoring the on-ground implementation of the agreement. Erdoğan added, “We will follow the enforcement of the agreed provisions to the letter.”
The president also emphasized support for Gaza’s reconstruction, stating that Turkey, alongside the international community, will contribute to rebuilding efforts.
Additionally, Erdoğan announced that the Turkey-Syria Friendship University, currently under development, will soon open its doors to students in Damascus.
