Ataoğlu: Standing With the People of Gaza Is a Humanitarian Duty for the TRNC
Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Democratic Party (DP) Fikri Ataoğlu welcomed the ceasefire reached in Gaza, describing it as “a glimmer of hope after months of suffering, destruction, and loss.”
Ataoğlu, who also serves as Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, said the ceasefire marked not only the silencing of weapons but also “the reawakening of the human conscience.”
“I hope this ceasefire will be the beginning of lasting peace, justice, and mutual understanding,” Ataoğlu said. “The world must now take firm steps toward a future where children no longer cry and mothers no longer fear losing their sons.”
He stressed that establishing lasting peace was a shared responsibility of all humanity, adding: “As the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, we see standing with the people of Gaza as a humanitarian duty. We will continue to support every humanitarian initiative and maintain our call for peace and solidarity.”
Ataoğlu concluded by expressing his wish for “days filled with peace, safety, and hope” for the people of Gaza.
