92 Traffic Accidents in a Week Across the Country: 1 Dead, 26 Injured

Between October 6 and 12, 71 accidents caused property damage while 20 involved injuries. Breakdown of causes: 27 due to speeding, 19 due to careless driving, 23 for failing to stop at intersections, 13 for tailgating, and 10 from other factors. The total property damage was estimated at 4.12 million TL.

Traffic Inspections

During the same period, police inspections reported the following violations among 20,923 drivers:

• Driving unregistered vehicles: 390

• Ignoring traffic signs: 174

• Obstructive window films: 148

• Driving without vehicle inspection: 143

• Speed violations detected by mobile units: 90

• Driving uninsured or outside coverage: 70

• Driving under alcohol influence: 68

• Using a phone while driving: 41

• Failure to follow light rules/poor visibility: 34

• Not wearing seatbelts: 33

• Unauthorized passenger transport: 29

• Dangerous driving: 23

• Driving without a license: 14

• Riding motorcycle without helmet: 13

• Ignoring traffic lights: 5

As a result of inspections, 393 vehicles were taken off the road and 11 drivers were arrested.
