20 People Attempting Illegal Entry Into TRNC Caught off İskele
Twenty Syrian nationals attempting to enter the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus illegally were caught off the coast of İskele by Coast Guard teams.
According to a statement from the Police Press Office, at around 12:15 a.m. on 16 October 2025, Coast Guard units detected a boat approximately six kilometres off the İskele Boğaz area, near the fishermen’s harbour. Onboard were 20 Syrian men attempting to enter the country unlawfully from an unapproved port.
The individuals were arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.
