Voters Head to the Polls in Presidential Election: Turnout at 53.19% by 4 p.m.

Turkish Cypriots are casting their votes today to elect the new President. A total of 218,313 registered voters are eligible to vote across the country, with 777 ballot boxes set up nationwide. Voting began at 8 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m. As of 4 p.m., voter turnout stood at 53.19%.

The ballot features eight candidates in total, six of whom are running as independents. 

YSK: Turnout Highest in Lefke, Lowest in Güzelyurt

According to the Supreme Election Board (YSK), voter turnout by district as of 4 p.m. was as follows: Lefkoşa 54.28%, Gazimağusa 51.87%, Kyrenia 52.70%, Güzelyurt 51.77%, İskele 54.06% and Lefke 54.43%.

Based on these figures, Lefke recorded the highest turnout so far, while Güzelyurt had the lowest.
