In a statement on social media, Erhürman said the decision was unacceptable, adding that it demonstrated the European Parliament’s lack of awareness of the work carried out for years by the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP).
He noted that the outcome also showed how the current practice of filling the two seats allocated to Turkish Cypriots with Greek Cypriot representatives prevents the Parliament from understanding the reality of Cyprus.
“This decision will not be brushed aside with a mere condemnation,” Erhürman said, stressing that the necessary steps will be taken without delay before the European Parliament and all relevant parties.
He added that the public would be regularly informed about these initiatives, emphasizing that the TRNC would continue to oppose any attempts to erase the presence and rights of Turkish Cypriots.
