Nine Arrested in Separate Drug Raids in Ercan, Nicosia, and Famagusta
Authorities in Northern Cyprus arrested nine individuals in three separate operations targeting drug possession in Ercan Airport, Nicosia, and Famagusta yesterday.
At Ercan Airport, teams from the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate conducted checks with the assistance of sniffer dog Pamir. Officers searched B.K. (22) and F.H. (40) after the dog reacted. Approximately 1 gram of suspected narcotics was found on B.K., while F.H. was found with around 0.5 grams. Both were taken into custody.
In Nicosia, police searches of S.K. (27) and their residence led to the seizure of two papers believed to contain synthetic cannabinoids and roughly 1 gram of suspected narcotics. S.K. was arrested along with D.B. (31), Y.Ş. (24), and Ç.Ş. (24) in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, in Famagusta, officers raided a residence where R.G.G. (36), S.Z. (28), and E.G. (26) were staying. Around 107 grams of suspected narcotics were seized, and all three individuals were detained.
Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
