Trial of Journalist Ali Kişmir Postponed to November 27
The trial of Press Workers’ Union (Basın-Sen) President and journalist Ali Kişmir, who faces up to 10 years in prison over a social media post, has been postponed to November 27.
The case, which began at the Constitutional Court, concerns an article Kişmir shared on social media. Represented by his lawyer, Cyprus Turkish Bar Association President Hasan Esendağlı, Kişmir’s next hearing will take place on November 27, when the court is expected to hear arguments from both sides and announce a new date for the verdict.
Officials from the European Union and the Secondary Education Teachers’ Union attended the hearing to show their support for Kişmir.
